The Provincial Court of Murcia has convicted a man, an educator at a Murcia juvenile centre, for sexually assaulting a young girl in the regional government’s care. The Third Section of the aforementioned court found it proven that the adult picked up the victim, who was 15 years old at the time of the occurrences and is now 20, by car and drove her to an empty car park. According to the ruling’s statement of facts, they engaged in “consensual” sexual intercourse inside the car.
It is important to note that even if both parties consented to the sexual contact, it is still a crime because the girl is under the age of 16. Consent isn’t legitimate. When the adolescent returned to school that day, she told a classmate about what had transpired, who then informed other teachers. The event was reported to the Ministry of Education the next day.
The sexual assault occurred in March 2021. Now, four years later, there is a court decision. The adult was sentenced to six years in prison for sexual assault and will serve an additional five years on probation after his release. He will be unable to approach his victim for another six years.
The sentencing prohibits the man from engaging in any profession or activity that includes frequent contact with minors for a period of 11 years.
The man, a 31 year old Moroccan, worked as an educator and translator at the centre where he met the young woman, but he said he was never alone with her and that a security guard was always present. He went on to explain that the youngster and a friend of hers attempted to “abuse” him.
In this regard, he said that the youngsters told him “What an ass you have” and even caressed it. When they did, he punished them, and the individual claims that they told him, “You son of a bitch, we’re going to make you suffer for the rest of your life.”
“Let’s see the stars”
The instructor also stated that the girl who later reported him said, “If you don’t do anything with me, I’m going to ruin your life.” He stated that at the time, he thought “things wouldn’t go any further.”
The victim, for her part, stated that she met the educator in the juvenile centre durincentre during the lockdown and swapped phone numbers after moving into a safe apartmentwoman went on to say that they communicated over WhatsApp and made “a few phone calls.” They agreed to meet, and the youngster said that he went to Murcia and picked her up at the bus terminal.
The girl claimed he begged her to “swear on her mother” that she would not hurt him, “meaning that she would not report him and they would have no problems,” according to the court verdict.
He promised to drive her “to see the stars,” and they pulled over in a vacant lot, where they had full sexual intercourse, the victim stated.
“I could be in love”
She also stated that when she returned to her house at the time, she told a colleague about it, but “in a very different way” than she did in court, because she “could have been in love” with the man.
She also indicated that she did not want sexual contact with the adult, but that she felt “pressured,” but she only realised this after she reached 17, “when all the problems she’d had” as a result of what transpired appeared. “She conveyed openness and conviction,” the court stated.
