The trial of the president and secretary of a Dénia cannabis club will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, June 3rd, in the Alicante Court of Appeal. They are suspected of trafficking drugs from the association’s premises. The defendants founded the organisation in May 2020, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office claims that since its inception, “they have indiscriminately sold cannabis to consumers who came to the premises to make purchases.”
In September 2021, a search of the association’s premises yielded multiple bags containing 400 grams of cannabis, 270 mixed tobacco and cannabis cigarettes, and plants totalling 490 grams.
The Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a five-year prison sentence for the defendant for a crime against public health as well as criminal association. It seeks a six-year prison sentence for the offender for the same crimes, with the aggravating factor of recurrent offences in the event of a crime against public health.
