The National Police detained a 48-year-old man in the Alicante town of Elche after he was surprised by a person inside his country property in the rural region of Altábix while attempting to steal something.
A call from an Altabix district homeowner to the 091 CIMACC Room informed the patrols on duty of a probable burglary at his home while they were inside.
The victim stated in her call that she had surprised a man inside her home while attempting to steal various objects from a box and that after being discovered, the perpetrator jumped over the fence of the adjacent house and then jumped from it to a country road, where he fled running.
Thus, one of the patrols on duty arrived at the site and discovered a man jumping over the road railing in an attempt to flee. His physical attributes and attire matched those described by the victim and witnesses to the incidents.
As a result, officers stopped and detained him as the accused perpetrator of an attempted burglary of an occupied property. Following additional enquiries, the local investigating court placed him into custody.
