In Xeraco, near Gandia the Council is making headway in improving municipal control and surveillance by installing four additional video surveillance stations with automatic license plate reading (LPR) systems to supplement the existing ones. This electronic network will allow for more effective entry control to the municipality while also strengthening the Local Police response capacity.
The cameras, which will be strategically placed at the city centre’s entrances and exits, will allow for the immediate identification of vehicles passing through the municipality. All information will be communicated in real time to the Local Police system, allowing for the detection of license plates associated with suspected crimes or vehicles being sought while also serving as a deterrent to bad behaviour on public highways.
Xeraco’s mayor, Avelino Mascarell, remarked that “safety is a priority for this government, and technology is a fundamental ally in ensuring it.” He further emphasised that this strategy improves traffic control and urban management.
The effort is part of the City Council’s larger plan to modernise and digitise public services. The Local Police Department welcomes the addition of these technologies since they enable a faster and more effective response to any incident on the municipality’s roadways.
With this step, Xeraco strengthens its position as a more connected, contemporary municipality dedicated to continual infrastructure improvement and public road safety.
