Eduardo Dolón, Mayor of Torrevieja, and Federico Alarcón, Councillor for Public Spaces, paid a visit to the newly inaugurated public lavatory in Waldo Calero Square this morning.
ABALA INFRAESTRUCTURAS, SL was awarded a contract to build five public toilets in Plaza Waldo Calero, Paseo Juan Aparicio (Plaza Arturo Gómez), El Cura beach, Doña Perfecta RodrÃguez Park (La Mata), and Plaza Encarnación Puchol (La Mata). The total investment is 398,583 euros.
The mayor emphasised the importance of opening these public facilities in Torrevieja’s busiest districts, which are in great demand among residents and tourists. Eduardo Dolón urged locals to take good care of and respect these public resources.
The restrooms include a PLC (an electronic device configured to perform control activities automatically), whose programming allows the following systems to be managed:
-Access control: programmable change machine.
-LCD status indicator panel: Programmable LCD display with status indicator lighting (red-busy, green-free, and blue-out of service). Presence detection system located inside.
-Digital LED clock: installed indoors, it indicates the remaining service time. It is set to 15 minutes and the retail price is €0.50.
-Acoustic alarm: indicates usage time exceeded.
-Use counter. Time-based usage clock to program time intervals and limit cabin use to specific times.
-Accessible interior emergency button.
-Exterior emergency opening.
-Sensors: lack of mains water pressure, soap, disinfectant, and temperature.
-Fan.
-Self-cleaning: After each use, the toilet, sink, and cabin floor are automatically cleaned with pre-sweep detection to ensure no one is inside.
