During Operation Summer 2025, which runs from July 1st to August 31st, the National Police will add 307 policemen to Alicante’s citizen security teams. This will enhance police presence on the streets, particularly in tourist hotspots.
The Alicante Citizen Participation Unit has launched one of the National Police’s innovative initiatives for this summer, which is aimed at children: it is a completely free identification bracelet with a blank space where parents can write their children’s names and phone numbers in case they get lost. It will be supplied by specific National Police service units along the beaches, as well as at tourist offices and hotels.
The Government’s sub-delegate in Alicante, Juan Antonio Nieves MartÃnez, made the announcement on Wednesday while attending a media exposition by the National Police on the Dénia port promenade for Operation Summer 2025 in the province of Alicante. Various services and units of the force participated in this event, which aimed to bring officers’ regular job closer to the public.
According to Nieves MartÃnez, the planned police operation aims to strengthen prevention and citizen assistance efforts, providing “peace of mind, closeness, and confidence to both citizens and the thousands of national and international tourists” who visit the province annually. “Alicante is and will continue to be one of the safest destinations in the world,” the Government Subdelegate stated.
Nieves MartÃnez was joined by the Chief of the National Police in the Valencian Community, Carlos Gajero Grande, and the Provincial Chief of the National Police in Alicante, Commissioner Manuel Lafuente Lázaro, as well as other police officials.
Specialist officers from Tedax (Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialists), Dog Handlers, a Cavalry Unit, an Aerial Means Unit (Drones and Air Safety), Citizen Participation, a UPR (Prevention and Reaction Unit), and the Forensic Police attended the event, along with all of their operational equipment and vehicles.
The officers will be accompanied by French police personnel
Furthermore, all of these National Police officers will be supported by French police officers who, as part of the “European Police Stations” project, will patrol until August 15th, along with service units from the cities of Alicante and Benidorm, to strengthen citizen services and ensure greater security.
The participating officers described their daily job to the Government Deputy Delegate and visitors, while also distributing brochures and providing citizens with safety advice to emphasise that prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
