In Benidorm, the National Police arrested a 43-year-old man for violating industrial and intellectual property rights. He was the manager of a commercial establishment that sold over a thousand counterfeit products under various labels.
According to police sources, the inquiry began after a complaint was submitted by a corporation committed to preserving unique brands on behalf of various nationally and globally recognised firms.
This firm notified the National Police about the sale of unauthorised replica merchandise bearing its trademark in a commercial facility in Benidorm.
In reaction to these events, a police operation was launched to verify the complaint with the help of a forensic trademark expert.
Police operation
Once at the investigation site, the officers confirmed the inconsistencies and discovered that leather items and textiles copying prominent registered trademarks were being displayed and sold, with clear signs of counterfeiting.
After the examination, investigators counted the bogus items, revealing a total of 1,111 counterfeit products seized.
The operation resulted in the arrest and charging of the establishment’s management for industrial and intellectual property violations.
After all of the police investigations were completed, the matter was referred to the Benidorm Court of First Instance.
