A swimmer was rescued on Saturday, June 14th, by Park Provincial Firefighters headquartered in Benidorm after sustaining a fractured ankle while in a cliff area in Cala Erizos, in the municipality of La Villajoyosa.
The call came in at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday, reporting an injured man who was unable to leave on his own. The Benidorm park immediately deployed two light vehicles equipped with the appropriate equipment for this type of intervention.
Care and Stabilisation at the Accident Scene
Firefighters arrived on the scene and spotted the swimmer, who had fallen and shattered his ankle. The crew immobilised the wounded limb using a splint. The injured individual was then loaded onto a rescue stretcher and taken to a safe location.
The swimmer was then transferred in a Fire Department vehicle to a pre-arranged meeting location with Medical Services. A Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance took him to a hospital, where he got specialised care.
