Calpe Local Police commanders met with Mayor Juan Antonio Sánchez and Councillor for Citizen Security Guillermo Sendra to plan security measures for the summer months.
At this coordination meeting, criteria and action plans were created, as well as the manpower and material resources required to deal with a period when the floating population could approach 140,000. This significant population expansion necessitates advance preparation for event management and monitoring at beaches, residential areas, and urban centres.
Staffing numbers are scheduled to be increased in the coming weeks to accommodate peak summer demand. In addition, the Local Police will battle unlawful peddling and patrol beachfront promenades and beaches.
In addition to the planned increase in personnel over the summer, measures will be taken to implement a semi-rigid boat for nautical surveillance, to add police officers on bicycles along seafront promenades, and to acquire four new motorcycles this week, which will strengthen the Calpe Police’s material resources.
“This substantial increase in visitors during the summer requires a lot of planning and organisation by the Local Police structure to maintain the high level of citizen security that Calpe offers, and this meeting seeks to coordinate this and adopt effective measures,” said Guillermo Sendra, Citizen Security Councillor.
