The National Police officers arrested two people in Alicante, a man and a woman aged 51 and 45, for allegedly committing a mimicked crime. They falsely claimed to have been victims of a violent robbery to obtain insurance claims. She’s also been arrested for fraud.
In the first recorded occurrence, a man went to police stations to report a violent robbery committed by two males who seized his mobile phone while using violence and showing a knife, according to a police statement.
The National Police investigation revealed that the stated events did not occur, since the complainant’s account of the route and events “did not match the evidence obtained.”
In the second case, a woman complained that a man had assaulted her and stolen her mobile phone. According to her testimony, when she was going along the street, a man approached her and, after striking her hard, snatched the phone she was holding.
However, the police investigation and evidence acquired revealed that the complainant reported a robbery that had never occurred.
In both cases, the National Police arrested both the man and the lady for allegedly committing a crime. The woman was also detained and charged with fraud. The investigations in both cases have been transferred to the Alicante Investigating Court.
