The Guardia Civil has arrested six suspects in connection with 54 vehicle burglaries in Valencia’s various service locations. They stole around €127,000 in personal things and nearly €27,000 in cash. The perpetrators employed frequency jammers to carry out the robberies, and they mostly targeted foreign tourists on holiday.
Since October 2024, crime has increased in the Sagunto service area of the AP-7 motorway. The criminals were active in numerous service places along the highway connecting Tarragona and Murcia, particularly in the Valencia metropolitan area and the city’s major tourist sites.
They travelled and perpetrated crimes using rented vehicles, frequently switching them to avoid identification as the same vehicle’s driver.
When they arrived at the service area, they organised themselves, assigning each member a specific role. Some members were responsible for monitoring the vehicle’s occupants while they used the lavatory or visited a restaurant. Another of the perpetrators jammed the signal, preventing the vehicle from locking, while another took all of the goods from inside. They also jammed the signals of any devices that might be nearby.

At other times, they would use the scenario to mislead one of the passengers while another, hidden between the vehicles, stole their goods. They always used wireless headsets to communicate over the phone.
Following the crime, they fraudulently used bank cards seized from establishments in Valencia before the cardholders could cancel them.
They kept the stolen items both in their homes and in rooms rented for that reason. They employed receivers to sell jewellery, apparel, fragrances, and luxury shoes on the secondary market, as well as computers, tablets, cell phones, and electrical equipment.
Four house searches were conducted in Valencian towns including Quart de Poblet, Las Cuevas, Utiel, and Vall de Uxò (Castellón).
These searches have yielded countless luggage, backpacks, designer apparel, shoes, premium purses, and other personal possessions, all of which are being sought to be returned to their proper owners.
The six criminals are accused of theft by force, fraud, and involvement in a criminal organisation. The Sagunto Court of First Instance and Investigation No. 7 has taken over the proceedings.
