So far this year, the Guardia Civil has dismantled 42 bogus electrical connections. The incidents have all taken place in Alberic’s Troneta neighbourhood.
The investigations began as a result of issues with power outages in this area of the city. As a result, 24 inspections were conducted in homes where the energy grid was being accessed fraudulently between January and February, and the residents were probed.
In June, as part of the ongoing activities, 18 homes connected to the energy supply were investigated in a single day, and power was turned off. In one of these, due to the impossibility of voluntary entrance and the owner’s whereabouts, a court order for entry and search was issued. The search turned up 456 marijuana plants, 65 high-intensity spotlights, 40 voltage-boosting ballasts, and eight air-conditioning systems.
A 29-year-old Romanian man has been arrested in connection with these occurrences, and numerous individuals are under investigation for stealing electricity from 17 residences.
The Court of First Instance and Investigation No. 1 in Alzira has taken over the proceedings.
