The province of Alicante is already prepared to welcome a flood of international and domestic tourists in July. Benidorm and Alicante are two of Spain’s top ten most popular holiday spots.
According to a study done by flight and accommodation search engine Jetcost, Benidorm is the most popular destination for Spanish tourists in July.
Alicante ranks sixth, ahead of places like Barcelona, Ibiza, and Valencia.
The online portal ranks Spain’s favourite travel locations based on millions of queries.
The top searched cities using this formula included Benidorm, Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Ibiza, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and Cadiz.
Ana Poquet, the chairman of the Tourism Council, states that “the promotion we’ve been carrying out in the rest of Spain, mainly in cities connected by high-speed rail, and the designation of Alicante as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy are encouraging more and more people to visit us.”
According to the firm, five places in the Valencian Community are among the 45 most popular tourist destinations in Spain in July.
Valencia is ranked 17th, PeñÃscola is 19th, and Dénia is 42nd. Benidorm and Alicante are also in the top ten.
Furthermore, the findings suggest that 74% of Spaniards prefer to spend their vacations on the coast, while 26% prefer to stay in inland areas.
Another significant figure is that searches for accommodations grew by 8% in July, which was already a record month last year.
International tourists
However, the report Profile of the International Tourist Who Visits the Valencian Community in 2024, Turisme Comunitat Valenciana said that 1,938,668 foreign tourists choose the Valencian Community. Last year, Valenciana set her daily spending limit at 131 euros.
The British market led the influx of tourists, accounting for 24.7% of the total and cementing its position as the region’s primary provider of international tourism services.
French tourists come in second with 18.9%, while the Nordic market is third with 8.7%. Holland and Germany They finish at 7.6% and 6.3%, respectively.
