The Guardia Civil of the Region of Murcia has discovered, traced, and is investigating two adolescents who are accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to modify a photograph of a minor and post it online. They edited the photo to make her appear naked and annotated it with homophobic remarks.
Judicial Police specialists from Benemérita launched Operation “Neska” to investigate alleged criminal activities reported by the parents of a juvenile who claimed to have learnt of the publication of an image of their daughter on social media.
The Guardia Civil gathered all of the complainants’ information and analysed the files and social media posting profiles in an attempt to explain the truth.
Investigators identified two juveniles in the victim’s entourage and discovered that a photograph of the minor was initially taken and an internet AI application was used to edit the image, making her appear nude. Numerous homophobic messages also adorned the photograph.
After gathering all of the necessary evidence, the Guardia Civil identified and investigated the two youngsters, and charges were filed against them for allegedly violating privacy.
