The fire involving a large catamaran that started on Thursday, June 26th, at the Port of Dénia is still active and proceeding well, according to the Provincial Fire Consortium.
At 1:23 a.m., a fire broke out in the dry dock at the end of the northern breakwater, affecting a catamaran-type boat of roughly 21 metres long and 11 metres broad.
Despite the need to evacuate some vessels, the sailors’ response effectively contained the fire and prevented its spread to other vessels. The Polish-flagged catamaran was in port but moored out of water.
The Fire Brigade utilised a heavy urban pump, a light urban pump, a heavy tanker pump, a heavy rural pump, a fire engine with three lines, and ten firefighters.
Following the alterations, two command headquarters units, two heavy tanker pumps, and two fire trucks continue to combat the fire, together with a non-commissioned officer, a sergeant, two corporals, and eight firemen from the Dénia, Benidorm, and Benissa fire stations.
