A 30-year-old male has been arrested by Guardia Civil officers in Torrevieja, Alicante, on charges of two offences against privacy, honour, and self-image. He was identified as the alleged offender of recording people showering in the women’s locker room of a municipal gym.
As part of this inquiry, two of the accused man’s mobile phones were seized and turned over to the court for processing.
On May 28th, a woman went to the Torrevieja Main Post to report that while showering at her gym, she saw a hand holding a mobile device from above the room.
When she noticed the hand holding the mobile device, she quickly responded by yelling at the perpetrator, which caused the person allegedly filming her to run away. She then alerted another locker room user, and both of them notified the gym staff.
A few days later, another woman went to the police station to report similar crimes that had occurred at the same restaurant, according to a Guardia Civil statement.
As soon as they learnt of the occurrence, the Torrevieja Guardia Civil initiated an inquiry in collaboration with the gym’s management, giving them access to the technical resources needed to obtain information that would help clarify the truth.
The Guardia Civil emphasised that their officers’ prompt action enabled the full identification of the suspect and his subsequent arrest, reducing the risk of picture dissemination and additional harm to the victim’s privacy.
Two of the arrested man’s mobile phones were seized during the investigation and turned over to the court for analysis.
The inmate, a 30-year-old Spanish man, has been charged with two offences against honour, privacy, and personal image. He was hauled to Torrevieja’s Investigating Court No. 3, which ordered his release pending further legal proceedings.
