The Guardia Civil and National Police have busted a criminal organisation trafficking synthetic drugs in Guardamar, arrested three Polish men, and seized 203 kilogrammes of narcotics, including tablets and powder. The Torrevieja Investigating Court No. 3 remanded the three accused males, who had narcotics-producing apparatus at their residence, without bail.
The inquiry, which took place within the context of the security plan for recreational zones, began when the group, based in Guardamar del Segura, piqued the officers’ interest due to their lifestyle.
During the investigation, a Citizen Security patrol from the Guardamar del Segura police station discovered a large-capacity vehicle that attempted to flee after discovering the investigators’ presence.
Officers stopped the vehicle and decided to investigate its interior. The residents objected, stating that it had a unique electronic locking system and that the cargo compartment was inaccessible.
However, the officers insisted on entering the vehicle and discovered that they had devised a complex electronic rear locking mechanism that precluded easy opening and allowed for hiding.
When they obtained access to the vehicle’s rear, they discovered a substantial quantity of synthetic narcotic powder and pills hidden in electrical equipment boxes.
Drugs were seized
They seized and prepared for distribution a total of 40 bags containing MDMA tablets, ketamine, and other narcotics. According to the Guardia Civil, the seized narcotics weighed 203 kilogrammes, which is equivalent to approximately 334,000 doses.
Following this operation, a search was conducted at the suspects’ residence in Guardamar del Segura, and 16,265 euros worth of cash, industrial gear for the manufacture of the drugs, precision scales, vacuum packaging machines, and different case-related papers were recovered.
Police are holding three Polish men, ages 33, 37, and 40, on charges of belonging to a criminal group, drug trafficking, and money laundering. All three were imprisoned after appearing before Torrevieja’s Investigating Court No. 3.
The operation was carried out by police from the Guardamar del Segura Main Post, the Alicante Command’s Organised Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA), and the Murcia National Police’s Drug and Organised Crime Unit (UDYCO). The Canine Service also assisted in the operation, which included a building search.
According to the Guardia Civil, this operation dealt a significant blow to international drug trafficking networks and allowed a large quantity of drugs to be removed from the market, helping to protect public health and safety in areas with a high tourist influx.
