Following last Sunday’s homophobic attack in Alicante, in which a young man was beaten with a bottle in the middle of a street, the city will meet later today Friday, July 4th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento to oppose this type of attack.
“LGTBIphobia murders, injures, and limits our lives. However, in the face of hatred, we reply with solidarity, courage, and pride. Diversitat shared a social media post with the other associations and platforms that support this initiative: the LGTBI sociocultural society Temis, Alicante Entiende, and the Entendemos LGTBIQ+ society, stating that they are unwilling to take a single step back. “In the face of the brutal LGTBIphobic attack suffered by a 23-year-old young man in Alicante, who was hit in the face with a bottle simply for being who he is, we cannot remain silent,” Diversitat wrote on its official Facebook page.
A minor was arrested
The National Police are still working to identify and arrest two of the perpetrators seen in the viral video uploaded by Daniel, the assault victim. The Alicante Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office has already detained a 14-year-old kid.
