The Governing Council, at the proposal of the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, has authorised the direct granting of a subsidy of €358,741 to the concessionaire of the intercity bus service between the Region of Murcia International Airport and the cities of Murcia and Cartagena, which travels between the airport infrastructure and the bus stations in both municipalities.
This subsidy makes it possible, in addition to regular routes throughout the rest of the year, to increase service and operate two buses from July 1st to August 31st. One will operate the Murcia-Airport-Murcia route with ten outbound and ten return trips, while the other will operate the Cartagena-Airport-Cartagena route with eight outbound and eight return trips.
Both buses will operate seven days a week during the two-month peak season. Departure times from Murcia to the airport are 7:30; 9:00; 10:15; 12:00; 13:15; 15:00; 17:00; 18:15; 19:30; and 20:45. On the return journey, services are at 8:15; 9:45; 11:00; 12:45; 14:00; 16:00; 17:15; 19:00; 20:15; and 21:30.
From Cartagena to the Airport, the departure times are 7:15; 9:00; 11:15; 13:15; 15:15; 16:30; 19:00 and 20:30, while in the opposite direction, the departure times are 8:15; 10:00; 12:15; 14:15; 15:45; 17:45; 19:45 and 21:30.
This investment guarantees the airport’s connection to the region’s two main population centres, which facilitates travel. The goal is to strengthen accessibility to the airport infrastructure and promote sustained growth in demand for both domestic and international flights throughout the year.
