A fire broke out in a Calpe home today, and neighbours’ help was critical in rescuing many persons trapped on the house’s terrace. The fire started at noon in a block of flats on Calle Dénia, near the Penyal d’Ifach mountain range.
The fire affected one of the homes, forcing the tenants to seek refuge on the terrace because they could no longer evacuate via the building’s stairway. According to eyewitnesses, many neighbours saved several of them before the firefighters arrived, pulling them to safety with a ladder.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames at 1 p.m.
Today, July 5th, about 12 noon, a fire broke out on Denia Street in Calpe, near the Peñón de Ifach. The fire destroyed a residence, forcing its occupants to seek refuge on the terrace due to their inability to evacuate via the building’s stairway. Neighbours used ladders to rescue some of them before firefighters arrived.
