A traffic accident involving numerous vehicles on the A-7 in the municipality of Cox injured seven people, including two children aged seven and fourteen.
Around 3 p.m. yesterday, Sunday July 6th, an accident happened near kilometre 538 of the A-7 heading towards Barcelona, involving numerous vehicles, according to the Generalitat’s Emergency Coordination Centre and the General Directorate of Traffic.
A SAMU unit, three Basic Life Support (BLS) units, and four firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium responded to the scene.
Seven people have received medical attention (two youngsters aged 7 and 14, four women aged 21 to 43, and a 21-year-old man, some of them had bruises and a neck sprain.
The Generalitat’s Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) said that all of them had been moved to Elche’s General and Vinalopó hospitals, as well as Vega Baja in Orihuela.
The accident has prompted the closure of the A-7 from El Salar to Elche, as well as traffic diversion along the same A-7 at the kilometre 541 exit or via the N-340 to Albaterra, resulting in three-kilometre traffic jams.
According to the DGT, the left lane of the motorway has been reopened since 4:30pm.
