The driver of a passenger car was killed in an accident on the N-332 bypass through Torrevieja. The accident involved two passenger cars travelling towards Cartagena and the Orihuela coast. Guardia Civil traffic officers from the Torrevieja unit, as well as paramedics, arrived on the scene quickly.
The crash occurred about 10:00 a.m. today, Wednesday July 9th, around kilometre 54.400. Sources say that the deceased was a 48-year-old Spanish national and a 28-year-old was injured. The injured man suffered bruises and was taken to Torrevieja Hospital
A vehicle struck the rear of the vehicle in front of it. This sort of traffic accident is the most common on this road because overtaking is restricted for safety reasons on 8 km of double-continuous lines, and many cars are suddenly caught in traffic congestion. Despite their prevalence on the bypass, these accidents rarely result in significant consequences due to their slow speeds.

Vehicles seldom surpass 50 km on the four-kilometre bypass that connects the CV-905 and the CV-95 Hospital. As a result, it is assumed that the driver suffered from a health issue that caused him to lose control of the vehicle prior to the collision.
A bypass is a section of road with a single lane in each direction that has traffic congestion throughout much of the year and worsens during the summer—up to nine hours per day, according to DGT notifications. During these days in July, it handles an average daily traffic of over 50,000 vehicles, with peaks in August reaching 55,000.
