Four people, two men and two women, aged 74 to 78, were hurt with bruising and fractures today, Wednesday July 9th, after their car ran off the road on the N-332 highway through Torrevieja (Alicante). Firefighters had to extricate them from the vehicle, according to health officials and the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium (CPBA).
After receiving news of the event, the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) despatched a Basic Life Support (BLS) unit and an Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) ambulance to the scene to help those involved.
The SVB then transferred two injured people to Quirón Hospital, while the SAMU (Security and Emergency Medical Services) transported the remaining two to Torrevieja Hospital.
The CPBA (Basque Police Department) has stated that its staff responded to the scene of the accident after the car overturned after leaving the road. Although the vehicle could be opened, firemen had to mechanically free the four injured occupants.
For this event, the CPBA has dispatched a command headquarters unit (UMJ), a heavy urban pump (BUP), a rescue van (FSV), and a sergeant, corporal, and four firefighters from the Torrevieja fire station.
The early tragedy comes after another that occurred on the same route earier today, in which a 48-year-old man died and a 28-year-old man was injured.
