National Police officers detained a young couple in Alcoy (Alicante), a man and a woman aged 23 and 20, respectively, for allegedly stealing jewellery from the house where the pair’s mother worked as a cleaner.
According to a police statement, the inquiry began with a complaint from a person who informed investigators at the Alcoy Police Station that jewellery worth 2,600 euros he had kept at home had gone missing.
At that point, investigators from the Alcoy Judicial Police Brigade began their investigation, looking into anyone who might have had access to the property. They concentrated on the woman who cleaned the house and her close environs.
After ruling out the house cleaner’s involvement in the jewellery theft, the officers decided that the robbery was carried out by a relative of the cleaner because no one else had entered the residence.
After performing different investigations, the officers ultimately discovered the two alleged culprits of the theft: the home cleaner’s daughter and her lover, who used the cleaner’s trust to steal the jewellery.
The police conducted investigations and brought the inmates before the Alcoy Court of First Instance while they were on duty.
