Torrevieja’s Fourth Court of Instruction, acting as duty court, has ordered provisional, communicated, and non-bailable detention for the son of a hotelier from Guardamar del Segura, who has been arrested as the alleged perpetrator of his mother’s death, a crime committed in December 2022, according to by sources from the Valencian Community’s High Court of Justice.
The judge also ordered the release of a second defendant on precautionary grounds: he must report to the judicial authorities three times per week, his passport will be confiscated, and he is not permitted to leave the country. Both are still under investigation in an open homicide case, with further criteria pending.
The son, a 53-year-old man with drug addiction issues, later admitted to the crime after originally blaming three assailants “with Arabic accents.”
The second person arrested is the son’s acquaintance. The 77-year-old hotelier died as a result of the punches she sustained. Her son, who lived with her, called 112 and claimed it was an assault, but DNA test results revealed to the Civil Guard that the alleged perpetrator of the crime is her descendant, and he was detained on Monday, according to the most recent source.
