This morning, Monday July 14th, the National Geographic Institute (IGN) reported a 5.5 magnitude earthquake in the Mediterranean, near Cabo de Palos.
The earthquake was felt in various municipalities in Almería, Málaga, Granada, Jaén, and Murcia, despite being far away from Níjar.
The IGN website for details on the earthquake, which occurred at 07:13 with an epicentre two kilometres deep above sea level. The tremor was felt in various locations in eastern Andalusia.
