Police arrested a 19-year-old male in Errenteria (Gipúzcoa) on a warrant for alleged involvement in a previous attack.
In the Murcian village of Torre Pacheco, a 68-year-old man was badly beaten, resulting in violent episodes over several nights.
The identification of the third person involved in the assault on Torre Pachecho’s neighbour last Wednesday, July 9th, sparked disturbances in Murcian Town. Ultra groups have been calling for violence against immigrants on social media.
Seven additional inmates are being held for various racist incidents, including a recent assault on a kebab shop.
The police arrested a man at a railway station in Guipuzcoa around 5:30 p.m. as part of a theft prevention plan developed over four months. The Guardia Civil of Torre Pacheco, Murcia issued an arrest warrant for him.
According to sources involved in the inquiry, the 19-year-old man apprehended in Errentería has an NIE (Foreigner Identification Number) and is of Maghreb origin, similar to the two previously arrested in irregular situations in Spain.
The event has been reported to the legal authority and police force, who ordered the arrest, according to the Department of Security. By Monday night, he’d already been handed over to the police.
Ten arrests have taken place as a result of the events in the Murcian town, with three of them directly connected to the attack on the Torre Pacheco resident.
Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has accused Vox. for the disturbances, accusing the organisation of promoting “criminal immigration” that has “stolen peace and prosperity” and supporting “outside the law” actions like those in Torre Pacheco.
The Guardia Civil identified over 20 vehicles attempting to enter the urban centre, some carrying “dangerous items,” like sticks or expandable fenders, indicating the presence of “organised groups” behind the disturbances.
He has requested that all parties, particularly Vox, “Call for Calm” in reaction to incitement to violence on social media during “hot days” on July 15, 16, and 17. The security device will be increased for preventative purposes.
With this, the minister has asked that the Guardia Civil conduct an investigation.
