According to the Guardia Civil, a 35-year-old male was detained and held in custody after reportedly committing 17 robberies at homes in Benissa, Teulada, and Calpe.
The suspect, a Moldovan national, obtained entrance to vacant homes after previously watching them and smashing open doors and windows. A check of his home turned up various stolen items, including two weapons, according to Denia Investigating Court No. 2.
The thief primarily operated at night, having already checked the premises to ensure they were empty. Once he had chosen his victim, he would break into the building by pushing open doors or windows, always hiding his face to avoid detection by security cameras, and steal cash, jewellery, electrical gadgets, tools, and other valuable items.
