Three individuals aged 24, 25, and 24 were arrested by the Guardia Civil and Torrevieja Local Police for allegedly assaulting law enforcement officers and committing significant disobedience after attacking and impeding police activity in public.
The incident happened on July 11th at around 8 p.m. Several passersby informed the Local Police to a probable assault on a woman on Calle Calera, who was discovered with a bleeding lip and in a state of worry. While officers were interviewing the victim and identifying individuals present as prospective witnesses, a group of guys began harassing them, surrounding them and gradually increasing the violence.
The attackers pushed, slapped, and directly assaulted the officers, hurling bricks, glass bottles, and rubbish bags at them. During the arrest of the suspected woman’s assailant, one of the men wrestled and dragged a police officer until he was able to break free, causing several cops to collapse, while a third man proceeded to throw objects at them.
The Guardia Civil, who were immediately notified of the event, launched a joint operation with the Local Police, allowing them to identify and apprehend the escaped man and the third individual who had been throwing objects during the intervention.
The three inmates, who face charges of significant disobedience and assaulting law enforcement authorities, were hauled before Torrevieja’s Court of Instruction No. 4, which ordered their release on bail.
