A 20-year-old Moroccan man has been detained in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria for setting fire to his girlfriend, a 17-year-old girl, and burning her alive. The local media reported that they lived together and squatted in a house in the La Isleta neighbourhood. After a member of the public called 112 about a fire in the residence, emergency personnel were able to respond and assist the victim.
The violent attack occurred this morning, Wednesday July 16th, around 4:00 a.m. The perpetrator, Abarrafia, tossed burning paper coated with fuel at the girl before setting her on fire. He also suffered smoke inhalation.
