A spectacular fire on a property in Santa Pola’s urban centre has forced the evacuation of an entire four-story building on Calle Madrid, according to the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium.
The fire broke out on Wednesday, July 16th, resulting in a towering column of smoke visible from numerous spots throughout the town centre. The Elche Fire Department promptly responded, dispatching four firefighters to the scene, where they successfully extinguished the flames and secured the building’s structure.

The Santa Pola Local Police Department actively participated in the operation, evacuating the building to guarantee the safety of the residents. One resident received medical attention for smoke inhalation, but his condition was not life-threatening.
The fire was put out without causing major bodily injury because of the quick cooperation of rescue forces. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Calle Madrid, one of the municipality’s main thoroughfares, was partially restricted to traffic during the emergency response.
