The San Vicente del Raspeig Judicial Police Team in Alicante led Operation Bonhomía, which resulted in four arrests for human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
The operation began in February, when Guardia Civil officers discovered a cabin where they feared people were being sexually exploited.
The Judicial Police Team from the San Vicente Guardia Civil Post, in charge of the inquiry, has confirmed that at least eight women of various nationalities, principally from South American and Eastern European nations, were “housed” in the house and are currently in Spain illegally.
Absolute availability
The alleged perpetrators, the establishment’s owner and leader, as well as three madams, forced them to work at any time, seven days a week, regardless of their health or mood, or even if they were menstruating, because, according to the exploiters, none of these things were “sufficient reason to stop serving clients.”
Madames
They had to stay in the room with the clients until one of the madams called, which they did when they felt enough time had passed. These madams would collect the earnings and then pay the girls, keeping roughly half of the proceeds.
The agents stated that the volume of consumers was really high and that they arrived at all hours of the day.
During the operation, the Guardia Civil discovered that the victims were living in overcrowded conditions, sharing a room with eight bunk beds, a single bathroom, and no privacy. Two more lived in the home’s garage, which lacked a bathroom and had poor ventilation. Despite the perilous surroundings, they were charged between 400 and 500 euros each week for their stay.
One victim has been discharged
The Guardia Civil has released one of the victims, and he is now receiving extensive help, including accommodation. She is a young foreign woman who entered Spain illegally, a profile that lends itself to the recruitment of such criminal organisations.
Four persons were arrested
On June 4th, four people were arrested: a 47-year-old man and three women (aged 33, 55, and 67). They were hauled to San Vicente del Raspeig’s Investigating Court No. 4, which granted their release on bail pending further procedures.
The Guardia Civil conducts inspections in prostitution-related contexts as part of its battle against human trafficking. Victims of sexual exploitation crimes at these types of establishments are frequently recruited by deception, violence, or abuse of their vulnerable situation, which stems from their personal and economic circumstances.
The San Vicente Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police Team is continuing its investigation while also keeping an eye on the other women in the residence in order to support them.
