In Alicante, officials from the National Police apprehended a 35-year-old German man. In 2020, Germany filed a European arrest order for him on 28 narcotics trafficking charges.
According to the National Police, the defendant allegedly used stolen building materials to pay for the narcotic substance, principally marijuana, that was brought from Spain for sale in the requesting country.
Officers from the Alicante City Centre Police Station discovered two men using drugs on a public roadway in the centre.
After identifying both people with the intention of sanctioning them for public drug use, it was revealed that one of them had a valid European arrest warrant (EAW) issued by Germany, therefore he was detained and taken to police headquarters.
The inmate and another man had been importing narcotics from Spain and selling them in the German town of Backnang, the fugitive’s homeland, near Stuttgart, where they also traded marijuana, amphetamines, and cocaine.
He was also wanted for financing the acquisition of the narcotic substance by stealing scaffolding material from corporate warehouses and selling it to receivers.
Following police investigations, the detainee was handed over to the Central Investigative Courts of the National Court, which is in charge of the case.
