The Santa Pola City Council is investing 40,000 euros to restore the road surface along a three-kilometre stretch between the main road and the parking lot near the Civil War barracks.
The Santa Pola City Council is repairing the majority of the road to the Cape Santa Pola lighthouse, including a three-kilometer stretch of new asphalt to ameliorate the region most damaged by inclement weather and pine tree roots.
This improves the surface of a roughly four-kilometre road that has seen significantly increased traffic in recent years as a result of the numerous visitors to the popular viewpoint suspended over the cliffs of Cabo de Santa Pola, which has become a major tourist destination.
The part being refurbished extends 50 metres past the crossing with the national highway (a right-of-way that the City Council cannot utilise because it belongs to the ministry) to the area of the Civil War pavilions, where parking is available for visitors to the viewpoint.
The Department of Infrastructure has invested 40,000 euros on this project, which will significantly improve user comfort and road safety along this route.
