The National Police rescued the life of an 83-year-old man who lived alone in his Elche house and was involved in a domestic accident after slipping while getting out of the shower. The elderly man had remained on the floor for two days, unable to get up due to a hit to the head and indications of dehydration, and had not eaten or drunk during that period.
When the victim called an officer at the Elche Police Station to summon him, he was dealing with a fraud case that had been reported by her days before.
During the call, the officer realised the individual might be suffering from a health issue; thus, immediate action was taken, according to a police statement.
Given the reasonable assumption that the old man was in danger, the group’s officers immediately contacted his family and friends while travelling to his residence.
Officers and family members arrived to find the man lying on the floor, naked, semi-conscious, and clearly dehydrated. He also suffered a brain injury.
While waiting for medical treatment, the cops helped the man regain consciousness. The old man indicated that he had been immobilised on the ground for two days and that, while he was able to crawl to his cell phone, he could not use it owing to his befuddled state.
The victim was transferred to the Baix Vinalopó Hospital in Elche, where he got the appropriate medical care. He recovered completely after a few days and returned home normally following the tragedy. He may now testify to a scam he fell victim to some weeks ago, which the National Police are seeking to address as soon as possible.
