An aggressive night of surveillance and enforcement in Santa Pola’s recreational areas yielded a resounding result: approximately 50 drug possession reports, as well as several complaints of public drinking (drinking in the streets) and urination.
The Local Police’s comprehensive security operation, which includes the TW unit and the Drug Detection Canine Service, has been deployed to counteract the consequences of alcohol and drug usage in public places, particularly around entertainment venues, parks, and areas frequented by young people on weekends.
Public order and neighbourhood rest
The primary goal of this operation was to eliminate neighbourhood disturbances, defend the right to sleep at night, and avoid disruptions and uncivil behaviour associated with substance addiction. According to sources from the operation, the action has helped to reduce public disturbances, which are common on evenings with heavy young populations.
Controls at crucial locations
The operation also increased monitoring in the area surrounding Cabo de Santa Pola, where multiple breathalyser tests yielded positive findings.
