The Mayor of Elche, Pablo Ruz, was accompanied by the President of the Generalitat (Catalan Government), Carlos Mazón, and the Regional Minister of Health, Marciano Gómez, to the Travalón Health Centre building site, which began in the first half of this year. This healthcare centre promises to serve over 20,000 Elche locals while also relieving congestion at the current Altabix Health Centre.
Ruz stated that “the progress of the construction of this health centre demonstrates the Council’s commitment to Elche, which is being fulfilled.” This infrastructure will alleviate overcrowding at Altabix Health Centre and enhance the quality of primary care services.
Marciano Gómez, Minister of Health, stated that “the goal is to improve citizens’ quality of life with new healthcare infrastructure, equip it with technological advances, and retain the talented healthcare personnel that we already have in the Valencian Community.”
The Travalón Health Centre represents a 6.7 million euro investment and is projected to be finished within two years, maybe by early 2027. The healthcare infrastructure will cover 2,500 square meters and employ approximately 50 professionals, 18 of whom will be new hires. It will offer a wide range of services, including Family Medicine, Paediatrics, Maternity, an Addiction Behaviour Unit, extensive medical and nursing consultations, offices, waiting rooms, and a rehabilitation gym.
“A health centre will bring healthcare closer to citizens, improve infrastructure, and, consequently, provide improved and enhanced health indicators that can satisfy all the people of Elche,” stated Marciano Gómez, the mayor.
Mayor Pablo Ruz thanked the Consell “for its speed and commitment to the city of Elche” and highlighted other projects unblocked by the Elche City Council in collaboration with the Valencian Regional Government, such as the expansion of the Torrellano clinic, which will be carried out once the new Social Centre, Les Arrels School, and Virgen de la Luz Educational Centre are completed.
