The General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has promoted the monitoring of alcohol and drugs while driving, as well as the monitoring of noise emitted by motorcycles and mopeds, during which the Elda Local Police have issued a total of 18 penalties. Random inspections were conducted at various locations throughout the city a few days ago, and they will persist for the next few days. The evaluations of two-wheeled vehicles are a component of the Elda City Council’s noise pollution awareness campaign.
Officers conducted a comprehensive inspection of 22 vehicles during the noise controls. They verified that the vehicles’ exhaust pipes were either original or had been approved and had passed the Vehicle Inspection (ITV) if they had been replaced. Additionally, they reviewed the vehicles’ documentation.
In total, 10 fines were imposed, including three for excessive disturbance, three for noise and gas emissions, one for mobile phone use, one for lack of a permit, and two for failing to pass the vehicle inspection.
In the interim, Elda Local Police officers conducted an inspection of 40 vehicles, including passenger cars, motorcycles, and mopeds, during the alcohol tests. They issued a total of twelve penalties, four of which were for exceeding the speed limit.
The remaining sanctions were imposed for the following reasons: driving without compulsory insurance (2), driving a motorbike without a helmet (1), driving with an expired license (1), and driving without exchanging a foreign driving license (1). The vehicle’s MOT had expired on three occasions.
Silvia Ibáñez, the Councillor for Citizen Safety and Mobility Control, stated that “the moped checks are a component of the campaign we are conducting at Elda City Council to address one of the most prevalent causes of complaints from residents.” Additionally, the high temperatures during the summer months exacerbate these complaints, as many individuals slumber with their windows open.
The councillor clarified that the City Council is participating in the alcohol and drug-related traffic control campaign promoted by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) in order to reinforce road safety in our city, as is customary with respect to breathalyser tests. The objective of these campaigns is not to increase revenue but rather to increase awareness among drivers regarding the significance of being responsible and refraining from operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol or other substances.
