According to a statement issued by the Superior Police Headquarters yesterday, Thursday July 24th, the National Police have apprehended a father, his son, and three women in connection with a domestic dispute that transpired in a building in the city of Alicante on Monday. The incident involved the discharge of numerous firearms.
The family dispute was the cause of the altercation between the father and his son. The father, who was allegedly threatened with a knife by his son and his son’s fiancée, allegedly fired multiple shots at them with a revolver, with the assistance of his partner. A fifth person, a woman from the same family as the alleged gunman, has also been arrested.
The 091 Unit received a contact from a citizen reporting that he had heard gunshots in the building at approximately 3:00 p.m. last Monday, according to police sources. Officers established a security perimeter around the building to locate the suspects and the firearm after confirming that no one was injured upon arriving on the scene.
The police determined that a man in his fifties had fired an unknown number of shots, potentially three or four, at two members of his household, specifically his son and his son’s companion, without injuring anyone.
Shortly thereafter, the National Police successfully apprehended the alleged gunman within the established security perimeter in the vicinity. The National Police have indicted him for the illicit possession of weapons and attempted murder.
A pistol and a revolver
The initial investigation revealed that the arrested man was with his 32-year-old partner during the incident. The latter is alleged to have furnished the man with the firearm and was also arrested for the same offences.
Subsequently, the National Police discovered a revolver that was employed to discharge the rounds, as well as an additional pistol that was purportedly the detainee’s.
The two firearms were discovered at the residence of a female relative of the detained man, who is purportedly responsible for concealing them. In addition, she was apprehended for possessing unlawful weapons. His son and his companion were subsequently apprehended for alleged serious threats, following allegations that the young man had threatened his father with a knife.
The Alicante City Courts of First Instance have been granted access to all of them.
