In the current term, Pablo Samper cautions against the limited execution of the works included in the Popular Party’s budget programme, which is estimated to be worth 153 million euros.
The official data for June 2025 indicates that only five of the eight projects currently in progress have received approved certifications, which accounts for only 12% of the total budget.
“Once more, propaganda is defeated by reality.” Although the mayor boasted in the media about a 30% completion rate, the official data contained in municipal decrees indicates that the actual figure is a mere 12%, with an average completion rate of 15.5% for the few projects that have made some progress, Samper stated.
The primary electrification works at the port area, which have only reached 11.16% completion after three certifications, and the coordination of the Levante breakwater with the leisure centre, which has not exceeded 4.06%, are among the examples highlighted by Samper. The spokesperson further stated, “Projects such as the Mínguez dock and the animal shelter remain virtually unchanged, and to top it all off, execution deadlines are being extended without anyone taking responsibility.”
Additionally, he characterised the approval of zero-euro certificates for the Hombre del Mar Pumping Station in June as “curious and concerning”, indicating a complete lack of progress. He observed that these are not merely occasional delays but rather a pervasive inability to fulfil commitments.
Sueña Torrevieja is requesting that the governing team provide transparent and public explanations regarding the true status of the works and the actual percentage completed in accordance with the most recent certifications.
“The public has a right to be informed about the investments in which their money is being made and the reasons behind the PP’s grandiose promises,” Samper concluded.
