The Guardia Civil arrested a man yesterday, Tuesday July 29th, in the Malaga municipality of Guaro, who is accused of assaulting his partner, who is nearly seven months pregnant, last Saturday. The detainee is purportedly accused of assaulting his companion within their residence and subsequently fleeing. The woman was allegedly assaulted by the male upon her arrival home on Saturday. The victim’s cries alerted her son, who was nearby, to the incident.
The woman was able to escape with the infant and call for assistance. She was treated at the CoÃn health centre and subsequently transferred to the Maternal and Infant Hospital in Málaga. The foetus and the victim, who is 29 weeks expectant, are both in stable condition. The incident is currently under investigation by the authorities as a potential instance of gender-based violence.
