Yesterday, Tuesday July 29th, the Camino Molino de Viento neighbourhood in Las Lagunas (Mijas) was the site of a tragic incident. Raúl Heredia, 41, who had been missing since July 24th, was discovered deceased inside a manhole in his vicinity. A search operation that included Guardia Civil units on land, sea, and air, as well as civil associations that had publicised his disappearance on social media and posters, concluded with the discovery. The body was recovered by firefighters shortly after 10 p.m., and the judicial authorities subsequently removed it.
In the hours following the death’s announcement, the tragedy intensified. One of the deceased’s sons allegedly went to the residence of a neighbour who was purportedly associated with his father’s disappearance and fatally shot him. The victim was unable to be saved, although emergency services were mobilised. The incident took place at approximately 6:00 p.m. Paramedics also administered treatment to a woman who was present at the scene and experienced a fainting spell. The Civil Guard apprehended the alleged attacker shortly thereafter, and he is currently in detention.
The crime may be associated with long-standing family disputes, according to preliminary investigations. The shooting victim and the detainee were both related to the deceased discovered in the casket, according to sources familiar with the case. This suggests that there were pent-up tensions in the context. The detainee is purportedly retaliating by employing a firearm in an act of retribution in response to the loss of his father. The authorities are still in the process of elucidating the underlying motivations for this double calamity.
