The Ministry of Health has announced that a new continuous care point (Punto de Atención Continuada ((PAC) will be established in the Torrevieja primary health zone, in addition to the one that is currently operational at the La Loma health centre, beginning on Monday, August 4th.
For the first time, the city of Torrevieja will have two out-of-hospital emergency care centres, which will enhance the healthcare system’s ability to provide services to residents outside regular business hours.
The Torrevieja basic health zone comprises five health centres: La Loma, Acequión, La Mata, Patricio Pérez, and San Luis. Until recently, La Loma Health Centre was equipped with a PAC.
The Regional Ministry has determined that the new health situation necessitates the adaptation of resources. Consequently, the municipality is receiving a new Continuous Care Point. This decision was made in light of the recent population growth.
Consequently, the El Acequión PAC will operate continuously from Monday to Friday, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. the following day, and will be open 24 hours a day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
The objective of this measure is to alleviate congestion in the emergency department and the emergency room (PAC) at La Loma Health Centre, which serves an average of 230 patients per day, with peaks of up to 340 patients. Additionally, it seeks to enhance response times and optimise the department’s health system.
Moreover, this new organisation is a critical development in the zoning of emergency services in Torrevieja, as it will facilitate a more equitable and efficient distribution of continuing care throughout the municipality.
