A man in Elche, Alicante, who was the subject of a European arrest warrant for extradition issued by Polish authorities, has been arrested by National Police officers. After being convicted of a violent burglary in the Polish city of Sandomierz in 2006, he fled from justice in the Netherlands.
According to a police statement, the arrest was the result of an incident in which this man and another man attacked a person, resulting in a variety of injuries throughout his body. Subsequently, they stole his motorbike accessories, equipment, and apparel.
As soon as the National Police became aware of the European arrest warrant issued by the requesting country, they commenced a search for his whereabouts. He was subsequently located in the city of Elche.
Upon his discovery, he was summoned to police headquarters, where negotiations with the Sirene Office were ongoing. It was determined that the European arrest warrant was still in existence, which resulted in his eventual arrest.
As per the National Police, “The fugitive had fled from justice in the Netherlands after being sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, of which he has one year and seven months remaining.”
The detainee has been transferred to the Central Investigative Court of the National Court (AN) following police investigations, which is responsible for processing his extradition.
