Man caught riding an e-scooter at 135 kmph in Torrevieja

The Torrevieja Local Police stopped an electric scooter whose owner was observed travelling at a speed of 135 kilometres per hour through the streets of Torrevieja. This speed is “extremely dangerous,” as it is five times the maximum speed limit (25 km/h) for these vehicles, according to the force.

The driver, a 24-year-old Ukrainian national, was apprehended by officers on Avenida de la Purísima after they posted videos on the social media platform TikTok of him conducting reckless manoeuvres.

The scooter, which bore the ‘China Export’ insignia, was not approved by the European Union and was equipped with an 8000W motor, which exceeded the legal limit of 1000W.

The Torrevieja Local Police emphasise the need to adhering to current regulations and the severe repercussions of irresponsible use of these types of vehicles.
