Today, Wednesday August 6th, the Torrevieja duty court heard the case of three Turkish citizens who were apprehended last Sunday for the gunshot death of Canet Koçer, a 21-year-old compatriot who was a member of a rival gang to the Daltons.
The Guardia Civil has implemented a robust security operation, which includes agents from the Torrevieja barracks and the Citizen Security Unit of the Alicante Command (USECIC) who are equipped with long assault weapons, in light of the danger posed by the members of the victim’s gang and the Caspers, the group to which the arrested men are linked.
The men were taken before the court after the Torrevieja Judicial Police Team investigators completed the corresponding report.

On Tuesday, lawyers Alicia Grau, Alejandro Murcia, and Alba Herranz from the law firm of Francisco Miguel Galiana Botella provided assistance to the three detainees at the Civil Guard headquarters. The same legal team is assisting two of the three in court, and all three have exercised their right not to testify at the Civil Guard headquarters. Through attorney Juan Antonio Espinosa, the family of the murdered young man has also appeared to function as private prosecutors.
The Guardia Civil and the Torrevieja Local Police seized three firearms, including the one used to execute Canet Koçer with six bullets, following the murder of the 21-year-old.
The suspects discarded the other two pistols as they fled, but one of them continued to carry one. One was discovered on Sunday, and the third was discovered on Tuesday night by a citizen who contacted law enforcement.
The Guardia Civil regards the crime as a reconciliation between the two underworld organisations of Turkish descent. According to sources familiar with the case, the victim was alone at the time of the crime, despite being lodged with relatives at a hotel in Torrevieja.
Last Sunday, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the 21-year-old man was walking down a central street in Torrevieja when he collapsed to the ground and was shot multiple times. Multiple Guardia Civil and Local Police patrols promptly responded, and a pursuit ensued in pursuit of the perpetrators, who fled in a vehicle.
The three alleged perpetrators were apprehended a few minutes after the incident, following a daring pursuit that commenced with a vehicle and continued on the run. One firearm was thrown to the ground during the escape, while the other was seized during a body search of one of the detainees. These arrests resulted in the seizure of two firearms used in the incident. Last night, the public’s assistance enabled the recovery of a third pistol, which was believed to have been abandoned by the perpetrators prior to their apprehension. We have confiscated it and attached it to the remaining evidence for analysis.
While the suspects were being arrested, another patrol vehicle tried to revive the man who had been shot and was on the ground. The victim’s death was confirmed at 7:40 p.m., although CPR was initiated by two Guardia Civil officers and later continued by the medical services upon their arrival.

The Guardia Civil has verified that the alleged assassins were aboard a vehicle that was stolen in France on July 27th. The license plate of the vehicle had been duplicated using a plate from another vehicle with comparable features. Initially, it appears that they pursued the victim and, upon spotting an opportunity, fired multiple shots at him, resulting in his immediate death. The Local Police fired shots during the pursuit, resulting in bullet holes in the suspects’ vehicle.
Visual examination
The Crime Lab of the Alicante Command conducted technical inspections of the numerous locations in Torrevieja.
The identities of the three detainees, aged 23, 30, and 35, of Turkish nationality, have been verified through the cooperation of authorities in Germany, France, and the Netherlands. In addition, the Guardia Civil is collaborating with the UDYCO (United Police Unit) of the Málaga National Police to verify the involvement of these three detainees in other incidents that transpired two weeks ago in the same province. These incidents included a shootout between two groups in the car park of a supermarket in Estepona.
The Criminalistics Laboratory of the Alicante Command, the USECIC, and the Torrevieja Guardia Civil Post are collaborating with the Territorial Judicial Police Team of the Civil Guard of Torrevieja to conduct the investigation.
