In less than two months, five robberies occurred at pharmacies in Alicante. Following the fifth robbery, the duty court ordered the imprisonment of a 45-year-old habitual offender who had previously been released on parole. The individual was arrested again by the National Police.
Two pharmacies in Alicante were the sites of the burglaries. He entered one of them, which is situated in the El Pla neighbourhood, on four separate occasions. Despite the fact that the authorities identified and apprehended him, he was provisionally released after appearing before a court.
Consequently, the individual, a Spaniard with a lengthy criminal history, persisted in his criminal activities and, at the outset of June, perpetrated an additional burglary at a pharmacy in Alicante that was situated in close proximity to the Vistahermosa Clinic.
Complaint
In the early hours of June 3rd, the National Police received a report of a burglary that took place at the pharmacy. The establishment was shuttered the previous afternoon, and upon reopening the following morning, they discovered a break-in. The pharmacy’s earnings of approximately €7,000 were taken, and the cash register was lying on the floor.
It indicates that the alarm system at the establishment was not activated. The security cameras were effective in capturing a burglar at 6:30 a.m.
The suspect attempted to elude the alarm systems by crawling down the stairs from the upper floor to the lower floor in order to avoid detection. However, the police investigation concluded with his identification and arrest.
The thief had climbed through the pharmacy’s shutters to the mezzanine and forced open an upper window to enter the premises after the report was lodged. The police conducted an on-site inspection of the premises. Additionally, they discovered a pharmacy sheet that had been folded up, suggesting that the thief had also utilised it during the robbery.
The criminal in the images was identifiable by officers from the Alicante Northern District Police Station, despite the preventive measures they had implemented, due to his habitual offending history, which included numerous prior theft and burglary convictions. Additionally, the thief’s fingerprints were identified in the pharmacy by forensic police specialists, which resulted in his detention on June 18th.
The thief caused approximately 1,300 euros in damage to the cash register and window, in addition to the 7,000 euros in currency he stole.
The National Police conducted the investigation and cautioned the detainee about the peril of his robberies and his repeated offences. They noted that in addition to stealing money, the detainee could also steal medications used by drug addicts. The Alicante duty court ordered the detainee’s imprisonment after he was taken into detention.
