A man has been arrested by National Police officers in Rojales, Alicante, for allegedly renting a property that was used as a clandestine workshop or vehicle scrapyard, where a marijuana plantation was concealed.
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters, the Local Police were notified of potential unlawful activity on a property that appeared to be abandoned. Vehicles were observed entering and exiting the property.
Consequently, National Police officers visited the site to confirm the veracity of the incident. They observed a substantial number of disassembled vehicles on the premises, which suggested the presence of a clandestine scrapyard or workshop.
Officers from the National Police Unit assigned to the Valencian Community, in conjunction with investigators, visited the location to investigate the potential existence of a mechanic’s workshop that was operating clandestinely.
A “large” number of marijuana plants were discovered in an interior courtyard, where officers detected the scent of marijuana during the inspection. Officers reported the incident to the judicial authorities, who authorised the search and seizure of the narcotics, as it was possible that these plants were being cultivated indoors on the premises.
212 marijuana plants were seized by officers after the search, and a 49-year-old man was apprehended for leasing the premises for an offence against public health.
The corresponding inspection report was submitted by officers from the National Police Unit designated to the Community of Madrid in response to the irregular activity occurring on the property.
