According to the Council’s tax register for the Fee for Private Use of Public Roads with Tables and Chairs for Profit Purposes, the municipality of Elche has nearly 600 terraces, with approximately 588 values. The figures for the third quarter of the year are as follows: 234,200.20 euros. An amount that, as has been previously reported, suggests an annual income of approximately one million euros for the municipal treasuries. This amount was exempt for several years following the pandemic, until July 2024.
In order to facilitate the implementation of terraces in other locations and to regulate requirements based on the scale or needs of each establishment, the local government advocated for the modification of the terrace ordinance. The City Council has received the most requests for the expansion of existing facilities during this year’s management. As previously stated by the council, the objective was to preserve as many as possible, as the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the authorisation of new ones or the expansion of the majority.
Nevertheless, the Department of Openings is committed to conducting an ongoing assessment of the terrace registry to ascertain which are operational, which are inactive, and which satisfy the established standards. Some establishments that are in close proximity to one another frequently neglect to notify the City Council of this fact.
More than 500 vendor stalls
Conversely, the fee for Authorised Markets and the Provision of Market Services is higher than that for terraces, with 506 charges. However, in accordance with the census, the revenues are reduced, as anticipated. According to the fourth quarter of 2025, the fee is €43,778.69 as of today.
