Orihuela Costa 2 Health Centre to be built on a 12,000 m² plot

The new Orihuela Costa 2 Health Centre will be constructed on a 12,000-square-metre plot in the Villa Rosa location, approximately six kilometres from the current health centre. With sufficient land to accommodate ample parking areas, this will offer healthcare to a population that is constantly expanding.

Following the Ministry of Health’s release of the functional plan, the Councillor for Health, Irene Celdrán, the Councillor for Urban Planning, Matías Ruiz, and the Councillor for the Coast, Manuel Mestre, visited and inspected the site where this new infrastructure will be constructed. Irene Celdrán, the Councillor for Health, underscored the necessity of this centre for all Orihuela Costa residents. Additionally, it will be one of the most modern and comprehensive facilities in the Valencian Community, providing services that are tailored to the current and future needs of the population.

The councillor further stated that “we are discussing a healthcare project that, due to its location and size, will facilitate more convenient, expedited, and closer care for thousands of residents. Additionally, the project will include state-of-the-art resources for ongoing care and speciality care.”

The functional plan specifies that the centre will be partitioned into numerous healthcare, administrative, and support areas, each of which will be equipped with facilities that render it a highly specialised and competent healthcare facility.

FUNCTIONAL PLAN – ORIHUELA COSTA 2 HEALTH CENTRE

-PRIMARY CARE AREA

Family Medicine: 5 consultations (7 physicians), prevention, control and monitoring of prevalent diseases and vulnerable patients.
Nursing: 5 consultation rooms (5 nurses), nursing care and complementary tests, 2 treatment consultation rooms, extraction room with 5 stations.
Pediatrics: 2 consultations (2 pediatricians), school check-ups, health education, 2 pediatric nursing consultations.
Midwife: 1 consultation and 1 childbirth preparation room, pregnancy and postpartum care.
Social Work: 1 consultation with 1 social worker.

-PATIENT CARE AREA

Central appointment and patient information area (6 stations, 4 administrative assistants). A fast, simple, and efficient information and admissions system allows for proper management of administrative procedures.
Integrated central area for appointments and patient information.
2 administrative and computer offices.
Area for orderlies and wheelchairs.

-GENERAL SERVICES AREA

Medical and Nursing Coordination Offices.
Meeting room and teaching room.
Linen room, general storage, cleaning area, security area, changing rooms (2), living room.
Spacious, sectioned, and accessible waiting rooms, with separate areas for adults and pediatrics.

-SUPPORT UNITS AREA

Oral Health: 2 medical consultations, 1 pediatric dentistry office, local anesthesia waiting room, sterilization room.
Women’s Area – COF (Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health): 3 consultations (medical, nursing with ultrasound examination, and sexologist), contraception, early diagnosis of gynecological cancer.
Locomotor-Rehabilitation Area: 2 RHB medical consultations, 1 gym, 4 electrotherapy boxes, physiotherapy office, changing room with toilet and shower, storage room.
Radiology: room for conventional digital radiology equipment and mammography room.

-CONTINUOUS CARE POINT (PAC)

2 Family Medicine consultations, 1 Pediatrics, 2 Nursing, 1 Life Support.
Warden and administrative assistant in admissions.
Living room, restroom area with shower and lockers, 4 restrooms, separate restrooms.

Orihuela Costa will significantly enhance its healthcare services by implementing this infrastructure, which will ensure that services are customised to meet the unique requirements of a diverse population that includes a significant number of international residents and requires primary, specialised, and ongoing care. Irene Celdrán, the Councillor for Health, concluded by asserting that “the Council will persist in its collaboration with the Generalitat (Generalitat) to guarantee that this project is finalised as expeditiously as possible.”
